Can't believe no-one's started a John & Edward thread (ironic)

I felt really sorry for Lucie this week. In fact any credibility the x-factor had is now completley out the window
as far as i'm concerend. (Like it had any before lol! )

Love them. It's an entertainment show, and they are the only entertaining thing about it. There's not a star amongst them this year, even the winner will be forgotten by the end of January. John & Edward however, will be in show business for many years to come.

I think the programme lost it's credibility as singing competition a few years back. It's definitely time for The X Factor to take a break. Bring back Pop Idol, I say!

I don't watch X Fucktor but I did just have a quick look on YouTube to see what these two are about. FFS!!!! In the name of God and all that is holy what is that shite???????.

I think Cowell had it right when he said it was so bad that it was also compulsive.....in the same way that you can't keep your eyes away from a car crash. Just vile!!!!

Two weeks ago, Cowell was threatening to leave the country if "Jedward" won his show. And got loads of free front page coverage in the tabloids as a result.
Then, having "gauged the public mood" (ie he's figured out that how he can make money out of them), he spurned the opportunity to actually get rid of them by declining to use his casting vote: Apparently, Mr Cowell now sees them as possibly being "the new Ant and Dec": Or, a less expensive pair of presenters for "Britain's Got Talent", perhaps?

Destined for Butlin's methinks.

This isn't music. It's all about lining Simon Cowell's pockets. End of.

I agree! The show is aimed at the U.S. market as they seem intent on finding a new Beyonce or Mariah Carey every year. Personally, I think we've already got enough of those. No
I think the only contestant I think has a shot at future success is Olly.

Olly is my brother-in-law's brother-in-law's cousin. How tenuous is that?

I've not met him, but my B-I-L has and reckons Olly's a decent bloke who knows the whole thing is as fake as much of showbusiness, but what the hell, he was working in a call centre before so he's going to enjoy the whole circus and who knows where he'll end up.

Can't stand the programme myself, but Mrs K thinks it's a laugh and so I've seen some of the acts. I think Olly's got charisma, but not the greatest voice in the world, so you could be right Lesley since personality seems to be more important than talent in showbiz. As for the rest, they all sing 100% better than me, but so do half the poulalation, so I reckon they'll soon be forgotten, with the exception of the twins. I think they will be a fixture on reality TV shows and, failing that, the panto circuit for years to come. God help us!

Totally agree.

I see Sting had a pop at Cowell and his cohorts the other week.

The format doesn't look for originality. That has to come from the grassroots. It's just the modern version of Opportunity Knocks et al. and when did any of them ever really contribute significantly to musical culture?

Every year I get sucked into this bloody show.

I started out hating Jedward, now I utterly love them.

John or Edward - "Last week we met Queen"

Edward or John - "That's Queen the band not The Queen"

Yeah, I know! Did you notice how they skipped over the mentoring bit with Brian and Roger? I'm not sure they'd have been too pleased to learn that the twins would be singing (singing!? scratch ) the Vanilla Ice version of Under Pressure.
The latest revelation is that the back stage guys turn their mics down while they are performing. It's not just their non-vocal prowess, they also have no co-ordination and miss every cue! albino albino
Olly is at least entertaining, in a good way.

Although I'm not as in love with Jedward as MT obviously is, ha ! I've grown to like them, a bit like fungus found at the back of a kitchen unit, deprived of air and cleaning fluid for decades.........

Apart from that, agree with all MT's stated (though, my Saturday night's highlight is STILL Strictly Come Dancing, OH YES !)

And I'll arm wrestle anyone to the ground who disagrees !! queen

Curiosity made me watch to see what they were like last weekend. XFactor is an entertainment show for the public BUT for the contestants it is a show that originally looked for a singing talent. It is about time the organisors got it organised. What talent are they looking for these days. If those two got as far as they did what hope is there for those who can keep a note.

All it will have possibly done is encourage more and more people to believe they have the Xfactor and enter the show PERHAPS THE ORGANISORS HAVE ACHIEVED WHAT THEY WANT !!!! Rolling Eyes Annoyed with myself that I've put fingers to keyboard to say something about this topic. But having a rant helps ! Laughing

It's an interesting point. Danni Minogue, vacuous witch that she is, raised the point well, if a bit late in the day.

It's called X-Factor, the X is the undefinable quality of an artist/performer etc.

I don't think it is a singing competition. I think Pop Idol was, but this isn't.

Can't believed I bothered typing this either. Bloody programme gets under your skin somehow.

They should just call it "The Mariah Carey Factor" or "The Justin Timberlake Factor", because that's all they ever seem to be looking for!

Mind you, even that's stretching it a bit. Last year's winner was just a clone of the previous year's winner.

It's madness and all a sane person can do is stand away from it all, shaking your head in pity. It's just a clever marketing exercise. They know how to manipulate the masses.

What cheese does the majority want? Cheddar? Lancashire? Stilton? No - Dairylea
What biscuit does the majority want? Custard Creams? Ginger Nuts? No - Oreos.
What music do the kids buy? Whatever Simon Cowell serves up in December. Pah!

Oh I do enjoy a curmudgeonly, middle-aged rant.

Yeah, but that's to maximize popularity, and thus ratings.

As much as I would love to see "The Nick Cave Factor" on prime time Saturday night viewing, I feel the masses will switch off.

My daughter met Jedward at T4's Stars of 2009 yesterday. She also saw a Saturday's bare boobie and gave some salt to the girl from N-Dubz.
