PostSubject: Guy Garvey - The Elbow Variations   Sat 03 Oct 2009, 16:35

Has anyone heard about this compilation before? Apparently it released on the 14th of September, but I only managed to hear about it for the first time while reading the Nov. issue of Uncut. A blurb about it with the track listing:

Quote :
Guy Garvey, frontman of Mercury Prize Winning band Elbow, has assembled a new compilation CD, including some of his favourite songs and artists that have influenced him. Of the 23 tracks on the compilation, there's a lot of old blues and soul artists on it, some quite obscure, and some numbers which he has played regularly on his BBC 6 Music radio show 'Guys Garvey's Finest Hour'.

'The Elbow Variations' is due for release on September 14th. The tracklist is as follows:

Quote :
'Jump, Jive An' Wail' - Louis Prima & His New Orleans Gang
'Mardi Gras In New Orelans' - Fats Domino
'I Put A Spell On You' - Screamin' Jay Hawkins
'Fascinating Rhythm' - Oscar Peterson
'I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire' - The Inkspots
