I've always listened to Neil Young's music. One of the first albums I ever owned was 'Harvest' when it came out... but what a powerful performance at Glastonbury on friday night. He was huge on stage there.

Saw the set on BBC4 telly, last night after Crosby Stills and Nash.
Havnt checked to see if the whole set is on the Glastonbury site or bbciplayer.

The audience were completely with him, must have been amazing to be there.
He absolutely loved it...
he loves his guitar

I loved it too but so far all I've come across on the BBC site is the same stuff that was shown after the CSN set. It was also shown on the late night show on Friday BBC2. Great stuff though. He has so much energy. Mark Radcliffe described him as 'a force of nature'. He's not wrong. Loved the crowd waving bit.

Shocked Crumbs, he still had loads of energy left for the next night at Hyde Park, and look who turned up for 'A day in the life' !

Did he have a different guitar? After friday night treatment for 'Rocking in a free World' it looked pretty trashed.

No. He's had 'Old Black' for donkey's years. He only really trashed the strings at Glasto and the guitar has received a lot of punishment over the years. It's very strong. Smile

I can't tell from the footage but it looks like he did the same again at Hyde Park. He's obviously up to something when his back is turned during the second crescendo 'cos as he turns around his strings are all over the place.

Holy ****

That was one hell of a performance at Glasto - Radcliffe was right, Young seemed to possess an elemental energy. He was thunderous but not ponderous, serious but gleeful. Brilliant.

He'll be 64 this year. I hope I have some of the zest and energy he does when I reach that age.
