I have a hubby that snores and it's hell at times. I've tried giong to bed at 10.30pm but he rolls up at 12.00 and wakes me up. He's also the type that just lays his head on the pillow and he's away. He has been a lot better recently but the effects are still evident as it mucks up your sleep patterns and it takes ages to get back to having a full nights' sleep.

Has he tried those 'Snore strips' Lesley? They're supposed to help open up the sinuses and reduce snorage.

Failing that, I guess a sticking plaster snipped into at each end would prolly be as effective stretched across the middle of his nose, if a helluva lot cheaper. Neither are exactly the most alluring things on the planet, tho!

He did try those, with mixed results. He seems to have got better recently, but that still doesn't stop me from having a bad night as my sleep patterns are all over the place. I think it's a combination of insomnia and the snoring now and I've just got to live with it.
Hay fever season is not far off so it's back to the anti-histamins. The "doesn't cause drowsiness" doesn't apply to me so I take mine an hour before going to bed, which usually does the trick!

I've started to learn modern jive/rock and roll in an attempt to get fit without 'proper' exercising as such. What a blast - I'm having such a good time. I spent 5 years living in France in my youth, where 'Le Rock' is danced by young and old, so a lot of the moves are coming back to me. When I see you all next, I'll be lithe and jiving all over the place.

Ticky - good for you! Sounds like fun! Wish I was there as I'd definitely go with ya! I'm not much in the dancing department - my moves basically consist of pogoing and headbanging - but I'd be willing to give it a go!

Chrissie, you can come to one of my bashes any time.
I've often thought what an old age folks home would be like when it's full of punks or mods and rockers.

Always thought the idea of growing old disgracefully suited our generation!

And now for something completely different. Not that I'm particularly religious, but after giving up 'choclit' for Lent, I'm just starting to climb the walls a bit at the thought of some cocoa contraband. Any other lasses out there been mad disciplined enough to give up chocolate or something equally nice till Easter?

Wow, giving up chocolate?? I am aghast at the very concept, though I tip my hat to your willpower, mrswoman! As a lapsed Catholic, I used to do the whole "giving things up for Lent" thing, but it's been ages since I did that. I can remember giving up lots of other stuff, but never chocolate! I knew I'd never be able to hold out without it that long! Laughing

Sarah gave up wine, and I dabbled with giving up tea before realising how ridiculous that would be. Sarah did it though, so now we just drink gin of a weekend. Much better Very Happy

I bet you feel a lot healthier. I gave up booze for 2 years after suffering a monumental hangover and I felt wonderful. Unfortunately, boredom set in. At least I learnt my lesson and I don't get too blotto any more.

I bow to your admirable restraint on the booze, ladies... Partly 'cos I cracked when someone gave me the white stuff. The scene was something like this, 'cept with a Milky Bar:

Ne'er mind. There's still a Malteaster bunny waiting for me, MBV. Razz

Haven't seen much going on in this thread for a while, so thought I'd say happy summer to all the Ladies! Gotta enjoy the only time of year when the hot flashes are because of the weather and not the hormones! Laughing

There's not much chance of the British weather covering up hot flushes - it's a typical August over here. Cloudy and drizzly with a low depression set in. Rolling Eyes

I've decided to cover up the grey and I've now gone a "Chocolate" shade. Thankfully it's a semi permanent and soon the dog will stop trying to lick my hair!

Ooh - I'm glad this thread is back! Nice one Lesley - I totally approve of changing hair colour. I'm now a rather fab Terracotta - because I'm worth it! Laughing

Ha! I was just wondering if I should do some color in my hair before my trip over, but I think I'm letting it stay as is. Y'all who get to see me in person will just have to deal with the additive-free version! Laughing

I will say this though - it's turned spring here, and it's already beach weather. Which means swimsuit weather. Which I am not ready for. At all. Evil or Very Mad I am currently on the "oh-shit-what-was-I-thinking-when-I-ate-all-that-unhealthy-crap-all-winter" diet, so I can visit the beach without someone calling Greenpeace in for a rescue.

Oh man, how I can sympathise!
My neighbour gifted me half a dozen bottles of mulled wine at Christmas, which I absolutely loved!
They loved me so much in return, they're still with me! (In the shape of an enormous ass!!) pale

I swear, what makes it all worse is that this is Spring Break time here, and half the college-age population of the US has invaded my local beaches. Laying out on a blanket next to some 19-year-old coeds really drives home the whole point that I'm past my sell-by date! Evil or Very Mad But I just keep reminding myself that eventually, they'll all have cellulite and greys too. Hee! Twisted Evil
