Tom Waits is the guest editor for the July issue of Mojo Magazine, and the issue includes a giveaway CD with 15 tracks chosen by His Tomness. Y'all may have already seen/bought it over there, but I have yet to find it here and will likely have to wait until the end of the month before I can get it. Can't wait!

Nice cover!!!

Well, I love God's away on business and the song he played in Smoke - a film I truly adore. The song's called Innocent when you dream.

Taken from the album 'Frank's Wild Years' if you're interested.

Wowza...I was in a little bit of a bad mood the other day and a good friend forwarded me this clip of Tom Waits, reading a piece called The Laughing Heart, by writer Charles Bukowski. It was ridiculously simple yet wonderful, and worked a treat at cheering me up. Enjoy:

Two different events collided within minutes of each other and led me back to Tom Waits after virtually ignoring him for the last ten years. (Jesca Hoop standing in for Guy on R6 and then listening to the Low Anthem version of Home I'll Never Be.)

He is a bit of an acquired taste, but songs like "Martha" (try listening and not getting a tear in your eye), "Take It With Me" and "Singapore" are up there with the best of the best.
