I boy, that took me a while!
Well, I still know that many people don't like U2. And I understand the reasons most of the time! Very Happy
But the concert in Berlin was amacing. Alghough I think they work better in smaller venues. Like every concert (Elbow Very Happy).
The stage looks amacing, doesn't it???
It was so strange. The first hour I was screeming around - waaah, U2 are standing there and than the concert was already over (after 2 hours 15 minutes).

So they are playing at Glasto, I' mthinking of staying for a while and watch them and then bugger off and watch something else like i did last year with Bruce.

it will be cool seeing them live, but I just can't help it they don't excite me at all really.

@ Stockhaus:
even if you don't like them - they are a really great live band. So it's worth watching them!

I agree, why not go see them? They are an amazing band live.
As for not staying to watch Bruce; what a shame...

Yea i've heard they are really good live, but same with Bruce, they are just another band for me, they good a good few songs but thats all for me, sorry. I'd rather see music I really like and enjoy every moment of it instead of seeing something "just because"
But I'll deff watch a bit of it, thats for sure Smile

I wouldn't spend money on a band I REALLY want to see live, either! And U2 aren't unfortunatelly very cheap... :S

Have cancelled Glastonbury - I'm not sure how I feel about this.
I wasn't overly excited to see them there anyway.
Other options look like Radiohead (yah!)
Coldplay
Paul MacCartney

Uff tough day for the Eavis family and a speedy recovery for Bono!!

Argh... that statement from U2.com really hurts....
So it was really a big thing, unfortunatelly! Crying or Very sad

Bono has now been discharged from Ludwig Maximilians-University (LMU) Hospital in Munich where he underwent emergency surgery on Friday, following a back injury. In order to fully recover, he is under doctor's orders to start a rehabilitation program and to recuperate for at least eight weeks.

Dr Muller Wohlfahrt confirmed, 'Bono suffered severe compression of the sciatic nerve. On review of his MRI scan, I realized there was a serious tear in the ligament and a herniated disc, and that conservative treatment would not suffice. I recommended Bono have emergency spine surgery with Professor Tonn at Munich's LMU University Hospital on Friday.'

Professor Tonn, who carried out the operation, added, 'Bono was referred to me by Dr Muller Wohlfahrt late last week with a sudden onset disease. He was already in severe pain with partial paralysis in the lower leg. The ligament surrounding the disc had an 8mm tear and during surgery we discovered fragments of the disc had traveled into the spinal canal. This surgery was the only course of treatment for full recovery and to avoid further paralysis. Bono is now much better, with complete recovery of his motor deficit. The prognosis is excellent but to obtain a sustainable result, he must now enter a period of rehabilitation'.

Dr Muller Wohlfahrt continued, 'We are treating Bono as we would treat any of our athletes and while the surgery has gone very well, the coming weeks are crucial for a return to full health. In the next days, he will start a light rehabilitation program, with increasing intensity over the next 8 weeks. In our experience, this is the minimum time.'

I'm sure it'll either be Coldplay or someone moved up from elsewhere on the bill (one of Flaming Lips, Dizzee or Faithless). I can't really see anyone else stepping up this late on, to be honest.

I completely agree with you, however, in my dreaming musical land, I still pray it's Radiohead.
The rumours going around, some of them are completely insane!

Actually, I think this is a great shame. Whatever your opinion of them, they are currently the biggest band in the world and would have been perfect for this special anniversary Glasto.
Hope Bono makes a full recovery, spinal surgery is not to be sneezed at... pale

sorry, I know "Wohlfahrt" is a perfectly acceptable German name, but I just see the word "fahrt" and turn into a 10-year-old schoolboy, because it sounds a bit like... oh, never mind.

If the rumors are to be believed...U2 are playing Moncton this summer, which is VERY close to where I live.

And no-one big ever plays near where I live. Here's hoping for Elbow support!

U2 were, and always will be my favorite band. I grew up with them since first hearing the War album in 1983. I was obsessed with them. In 1997 they released what I consider the best (imho) album ever released, Pop. I still do, to this day like this album more than any other. U2 had balls, in abundance.

Not sure what the hell happened then. They lost the plot and got scared with the direction they were headed so they went all fuzzy and radio friendly. Everything since Pop, and the PopMart tour has been mediocre at best.

So I had to find new music to get into. Tried many bands, always LOVED Radiohead, but then found Elbow.

Like it or not, it was a marketing coup releasing Songs of innocence via iTunes.

After listening to the album the last two days I started humming Songs at the supermaket, which is always a good sign. :-D
The lyrics are Bonos finest in a long time (Not to compare with Guys of course, it's a different style). My faves so far: Song for someone, Iris, raised by wolves, Cedarwood Road.

Looooove that the lads are back. Very Happy I know again why a pic of them hangs in my livingroom. :-)
