I haven't been able to post this before now, but a number of you will recall meeting my good friend Darryl (Dr P) at Elbow gigs over the last few years. Darryl was involved in a horrific bonfire accident a few weeks ago, and spent the time since in the Burns ITU at Chelmsford Hospital where, despite the very best care, he sadly passed away yesterday afternoon.

The local and national papers reported his accident:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2275484/Dr-Darryl-Peel-fighting-life-petrol-exploded-lighting-bonfire-garden.html

He leaves a wife and three smashing children. Sam, his son is a fan of the band, and a budding musician too. My thoughts are with them at this awful time.

I thought I'd post a link to one picture from happier days - queuing outside the Junction in Cambridge on a freezing cold March afternoon with a few forum members..

Dear Phil
I am so sorry to hear this news - from the little time I spent with you both, he seemed such a nice fellow. What an appalling thing to happen to someone. Please give his family our condolences at this dreadful time for them.
All my best to you and yours

What sad and shocking news. Sad I so enjoyed Darryl's company in the queue at the various gigs that we'd shared, and just can't imagine what you and his family must be going through. All my love to all of you. xxx

Thanks for these kind words, which I'll pass on to Darryl's family. They will need all the support they can get over the coming days and weeks.

Phil.

Oh dear, oh dear.
How sad.
Such a lovely man and what an absolute pleasure it was to share that cold, cold afternoon with you both.
I am horrified and my thoughts are with you and his family.

That's terrible news and so sad

I met Darryl for the briefest of moments at Cambridge and he was a better fan than me that day standing out there in the cold to ensure he was one of the first ones in.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family
