I must say, there's a certain frostiness towards CoT in that article.

It's fair enough for the album's gestation to be stirring up mixed memories for the band, but I think it's a bit lazy and revisionist for the Uncut journalist to roll out the old 'difficult second album' cliché.

I distinctly remember the album being released to almost universal praise by the music press.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I haven't read through all of it yet.
