Cracking gig - loads of atmosphere and er .. 'love in the room'. Don't know how, but Elbow somehow managed to make a big room seem small. Mind you, could be due to the fact that we were very close to the stage/walkway. My son shot quite a lot of the gig on his Flip. Sound quality is not great but the picture quality is pretty good. Will be uploading to Youtube when I have a few spare moments. Will try and post some still pics as well over the next couple of days.

Garvey was immense as were the other band members, although in a more understated way. Think it will be quite a while before their popularity wanes and they return to smaller venues. They seem to be getting better live (didn't think it possible but just goes to show what I know ) Laughing

At Birmingham as well, furtheast away ever been from them. When they played at Cambridge warm up Guy parps his Trumpet quite deliberately. We have a fantastic quality 'bootleg' from it and it's evident there too.Lover Portraits moving off as players came onto stage.Lighting and stage affects stupendous.may have been a long way back, but got full view of all affects and guy's walk about. Was 5ft away from him at Cambridge, but getting an over view 'of the show' made up for distance.TRuly superb.Peerless band. Very Happy

Agree with your sentiments. Was saying to the lads on the way home last night that the seriousness of a lot of their songs is in sharp contrast to Garvey's new role as a top stand-up comedian. You go from Tower Crane Driver to a daft impression of him 'channeling' Jim Kerr to an attempted conversation with the bloke furthest away from the stage. It's a weird cocktail, but it seems to work.

I can hear a hell of a lot of audience screamers in your clips.
Watched a bit of the Duran, Duran programme on telly the other night. Got to the stage with them too that you couldn't actually hear much of the music for the screaming.
I'm playing the bootleg from Cambridge a lot. Its a lovely memory.
Mostly warm appreciative audience there that didn't encroach too much on the natural enjoyment.

Yep, you're not wrong. There were a couple of 'repeat offenders' who kept bawling and shouting erroneous missives ... to whom I'm not certain. Could have been coked up/pissed .. am not sure. It didn't really spoil our enjoyment because the PA volume was quite loud; however the sound on the clips doesn't really convey that. And even with a group like Elbow, in an arena you get an 'arena mentality'.

You're most welcome. It's a pleasure.

Took my best buddy of over 30 years to the gig and he is still a frothing, gibbering wreck after the concert. By which I mean he was deeply moved and impressed. This band is an important one for many people.

Great gig, It was my first time seeing Elbow on their own (I had only saw them support U2 before)
Went with my husband & it was our first gig together in 18yrs! He absoultly loved it, as did I, the only down side was that we were seated! I usally do standing for all the gigs I go to but didn't think my hubby would want to. Everyone just sat in there seats Im so not used to that! Next time we'll stand. Very Happy

Thanks for sharing the clips Cozzer. If I'd known you were filming I'd have ducked - the back of my head seems to have crept into Neat Little Rows!
