Not sure if there is an existing thread re this band ... have seen them x 3 in the last year, most recently at Union Chapel (London) a few days ago. The guys were truly amazing ... if you have time check them out.

Loved Thirst For Romance, their first album, to bits. Months later someone said Simon's voice sounded like Harry Hill and - daft as it sounds - that somehow broke the spell. Rolling Eyes

I've been meaning to catch up with the new album for ages, so thanks for posting.

not many people fancy Cherry Ghost?
Sad(
i liked them immediately! but their album isnt exactly the type that you would play everyday. (for me, i would play Doves' Kingdom Of Rust album all day and not bored of it)
I must admit their "We Sleep on Stones" was one of their best songs every created. smartly written.
will get their CDs into my collections. its worth every single penny.

Beneath this Burning Shorline has been on constant rotation for me over the last few weeks - can't get enough at the moment. I must admit, I think he sounds very Hawley-y, only a little gruffer. I'm really looking forward to seeing them at Truck this weekend. Very Happy

Haven't really got on with Burning Shoreline yet, but loved Thirst For Romance; I think Mathematics was free on iTunes once, which alerted me to them/him, and it went from there. I'll have to give Burning Shoreline a spin over the weekend; got a few journeys planned, so it'll work well for that.

Love both albums.
Going seeing them later this month, all looking good

But then I read this:

So whilst I still think they're great (and everyone else should check them out) I found myself imagining Harry as the singer as I listened to "Thirst For Romance" this morning.....thanks mrswoman!!!

I like Harry Hill and I like Simon Aldred but who is the best....there's only one way to find out......

Oops, sorry Sparky! I can't remember who said it originally, but it's right up there with another bright spark saying Al Stewart doing Year of the Cat sounds like Tony Blair. *facepalms* An idea for a new thread, mebbe?

Hope you still have a great night at the gig, but fingers crossed Stufus won't be making an appearance! Thumbs Up!

Just Simon on guitar and the keyboard man (sorry I don't know your name but you were brill) last night.

An excellent gig, I can't believe Cherry Ghost don't get more recognition for some brilliant songs.

A slightly shorter setlist than I'd hoped for but we did get two support acts (The Sundowners are worth a listen particularly if you like The Coral) so it was a fun packed evening.

Simon treated us to "Silent Night" and "Blue Christmas" too so it was a very festive way to end the 2011 gig season.

And finally, in my tears in my eyes / singalong /christmassy opinion, "People Help The People" (introduced as a Birdy cover Smile ) is one of the best songs written by anyone over the last 10 years.

I really enjoyed the gig. Like you say, I can't believe that he's not had more success.

Seriously considering going to Leeds to see him again in February.

New album "Herd Runners" released today

Sounds fantastic  Very Happy

I'd heard a few tracks when they played the special Christmas gigs in Manchester so I had high hopes and I'm not disappointed.
