Whoops. I already had that part written out but I must not have selected that part when I copied the lyrics onto my new post.

Modus operandum! Man, I could not figure that one out for the life of me. Thanks!

What I hear is "Forgive myself how I behave" for this line. Does anyone else hear this? |
I think you're right with that. Forgive sounds right to me too.
| emma wrote: | | Kim wrote: | And I swear to keep a sanctum in my grave To keep a sanctum in my grave |
And it sounds to me like he's saying "And I swear to keep her safe until my grave". Even with him saying it multiple times I couldn't hear "sanctum"... But I do have pretty poor quality speakers so I could be wrong! |
It's funny that you say this--the first time I played the song with the intention of figuring out the lyrics, I too thought it said "keep her safe". I still can't decide whether it's right, though. Each time he says the line twice, and the first time he says it always sounds a tiny but different than the second. |

Ahh it's a tricky one. I had to listen to it quite a few times before figuring out it was Latin, hehe. |

| He's singing: "And I swear to keep her safe 'til in my grave"
And I believe there's no "but" in: But someone else's heart now means more to me than mine |

| This is such a gorgeous song, I'm loving it. For the last few days I've been thinking why is it "only" a B-side (but then Elbow have done some stunning B-sides) but now I've heard the album (came today, woo-hoo!) I can see why - the mood is so different. Both amazing in completely different ways and that's one of the things I love about Elbow.
It's "I swear to keep her safe till in my grave" I'm sure. |

No joy there for me, LWD - it had me down as coming from a US IP address and it wouldn't even show me the single or B-side on the US page. I know there were some instructions given about using proxy servers to try and purchase from UK sites while in the US, but I haven't found one that is up and running properly on the few times I've tried. I will keep trying, I'm sure I'll manage it at some point! Thank you for the link though, I appreciate the help! |

| I remember that Guy (or maybe it was a stand of the whole band) was talking about ''shoegaze and psychedelia'' inspirations in relation to new record. After some spins i didn't notice that at all (except ''The Birds''). BUT....''Ticker Tape'' seems to be one of the ''lost psychedelic tracks'' from recent session. I think it's amazing and should be included on ''build a rocket boys!''. |
